The most cheerful and dramatic of the winter bloomers are the poinsettias and
Christmas cacti. These six lovely blooms have been in my home and have inspired
this Winter Bloomers series.
The traditional poinsettias are represented as well as variegated red and variegated
pink poinsettias that were new to me. The poinsettias were created utilizing colored
pencils. What fun! Achieving in watercolor the delicacy of the Christmas cactus
blossom was challenging and exciting, and I am proud of the result!
Note cards are available, as are signed and numbered prints.
Winter Bloomers Series A
Welcome to the COLORS OF THE SEASONS from Jean Skelton Original Art!
'Poinsettia, White, Small'
The white poinsettias are perhaps the most delicate-appearing of this family. The more you gaze
at them the more you are aware of the subtleties of form and color.
'Poinsettia, Red'
Cheerful bright red leaves surrounding the center actual flowers provide a bold and dramatic spot
of cheer during the winter holidays. The detail in the leaves is an art form all its own.
'Poinsettia, White, Large'
The larger presentation allows the subtleties of form and color to come to the fore. The more
you see, the more you are rewarded!...
'Poinsettia, Variegated Red'
The combination of traditional red with apparently random areas of delicate cream absolutely
intrigued me! It was great fun to work on this picture.

'Christmas Cactus'
The only one in this series done in watercolor. Somehow the delicacy of the bloom (in contrast
with the succulent cactus) demanded watercolor. I am very pleased with the result.
'Poinsettia, Variegated Pink'
This poinsettia was totally new to me and graced my home during the holidays. This was
created with colored pencil and turned out so well that it became my Christmas card!
